Understanding our new food.

Embark on a journey as we discuss the developments affecting the quality of our food while understanding the importance of food security for all. We accept our individual truths and decisions knowing others’ perceptions and choices is just as important.

Why are we Consuming GMO Food?

Understanding genetically modified organisms is the first step in identifying the changes in our food from its natural state to a scientifically acceptable by-product.

Firstly, let us analyze the ancient selections and consumption of basic survival food. We all know that hunting culture is the beginning of food security across the globe with the distinct differentiation of the organisms available by the different regions. Food is forever essential for body function and to be used to prevent death from starvation, therefore, the availability of hunted organisms is the core history of the different types of food consumed as a part of a culture or region. Understanding that availability leads to consumption, will allow us to appreciate the ancient survival approaches to constructing one’s culture and choices of food.

The evolution of Food Stability.

Technology continues to impact our way of life, thus continuing to evolve food security, stabilization and storage. From the sparrow of fishing to now fancy-equipped boats, nets, and even rods used for leisure. Animals are bred with care specifically for consumption and crops are cultivated based on population. The luxury of bypassing the sourcing of our food is one of the many factors that impact the way our food is now produced, stored and distributed. We have upgraded from the individual barter system to a global cultivation of food processes through regional and political exchanges leading to substantial availability for all. We are now presented with the autonomy for individual, group and corporation purchases. Continuous technological implementations in the food industry are needed to ensure that these chains of supply and demands are met to sustain the parts of the world involved.

Food Science and Technology through IUFoST has structured itself on a framework to meet the future food security challenges – through filling the void in the supply side gaps and influencing demand changes and including Nutrition into food security, reduction of the production gaps, increasing the efficiency of post-farm operations and influencing demand”.

The importance of Technology in our Food.

Technology’s involvement in our food has continued to cause disagreements regarding its necessity or another unwarranted transition. The constant supply of essential food to meet demands and security appears functional. The focus is more so on gaining financial stability to afford the quality and types of food products that we need and desire. The freedom to choose, the restriction of affordability and the limitations to affect desires changes are all factors that will continue to impact our food choices.
